    Bit cheeky adding utility bills considering that EVERYBODY has to pay those, including renters.

    It doesn't change the mortgage figures which is where the differential comes from - but I suspect the figures are inaccurate anyway. A lot of the "boom time buyers" are on miniscule margin trackers with the more recent buyers up to 4.5% SVR - that closes a lot of the gap in mortgage repayments.

    That's the problem I have with these types of articles, they never show the assumptions that get to their figures because if they did we'd see right through them.

    Someone posted an independent article recently showing the affordability of mortgages these days is the same as the boom when all things are taken into account. It even broke down the separate costs and laid it out.

    Pure horse sh*t. Friends of ours on a tracker with a mortgage 100k more than ourselves paying 400 less a month than ourselves who bought last year.

    How many tracker mortgages are out there again????
