Hi I have Vaio that is out of warranty, I had to replace the HDD, I tried to use the recovery disk. I was unable to boot from them or any CD's. I ended up sticking the drive into another machine and was able to restore W7. When I returned the HDD to the Viao everything worked ok once I downloaded the stuff from the Sony site for my specific machine. However the DVD still would not work. Its a Mat****a UJ8A2AS. When it was working on the factory image it was a Dual Layer drive. What I'm looking for is to know is there is a specifiv driver for this device.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Rgs, Jim

here's all the drivers anyway http://www.sony.ie/support/en/content/cnt-dwnl/VPCSB3C5E/list#os1

You can check if the driver is installed for your DVD drive by right click computer > properties > device manager.

It should have like a yellow ? beside it. You may want to check anyway, the "DVD/CD-Rom" and see what DVD is labelled there, if it's your current one, or the one you used to install.
