I'd choose gas over oil. You can't steal gas. If your installing an a rates boiler I'd definitely go a little further and upgrade your heating controls as this gets the most out of your gas boiler due to its modulation capabilities. TRV's on the radiators would be a good idea also

Do a search for Calor on this forum. There are some interesting threads although many are older posts. Cost seems to be a significant issue together with the contract and ongoing tank rental. Perhaps things have changed since then. It would be interesting to hear from any current users.

Can anyone explain the standing charge of 199.78 on calor gas tank, I understood from calor gas that if I filled 600 Ltrs annually, I would not be charged this enormous charge, I only use gas as a standby, never c anybody from calor from one end of year to another, please advise should I change to oil, I can't afford to pay this huge figure

600l or 3,060 kWh of gas with no tank rental is not a viable contract.
Do you have any element of take or pay if u don't burn enough.

We pay rental on our esb meters, gas meters, water meters, so why should lpg be different, especially with such low usage

As a Calor user in more than one property since 1997, I can't see any issue over contract or tank rental. Tank rental is about €70/year, and they maintain it. Flogas is similar. Hardly going to break anyone.

As for contract, outside any special offer you agree to on signing up, you can change at any time. There is no tie-in.

    Unless mains gas, caveat emptor.
