Audi to ditch LeMans and to join F1 instead

An interesting development, given Audi's success in LeMans and the marketing they were doing on how much performance their TDI engines are capable of (though the rules in LeMans were totally skewed towards diesels, which of course made it much easier for them to 'win' over a petrol engine).

Now the only VW Group company in LeMans will still be using petrol engines and obviously F1 is petrol only. Will we see a big push on the 'F1 winning' TFSI technology in years to come?

It will be slightly embarrassing for Auto Express if there is no truth to the story about Audi. Other websites are reporting the story as an Auto Express story.

I thought audi had always dismissed the possibility due to the minimal relevance I their target market, or am I getting mixed up with another german manufacturer?
