Wasnt sure if this was Games forum worthy or here.

But how many of your Steam/Origin other thingie mates are added via in game interrctions?

Sorta realise that my kids add everyone on console via in game interactons and in 14 years or so of playing PC online I have added 1.

never spoke to the chap but in BF squads with him many a time and added him.

I've hardly anyone on my steam list, but out of say 30, I only know 4 in real life. everyone else was added after a good game/match (DOTA2)

With Steam I have noticed that I have started adding more people in-game for games that use SteamWorks. Take Company of Heroes 2 for example. If I play a round and our team plays well together I might add some of the players to make matchmaking easier in the future.

I often meet new people in a new game where its a bit easier since you have the common ground of trying to work out how to play it. They might want to join your teamspeak server and then add them.

On Gaellords teamspeak anyone can create their own temporary channel so if a group are playing a new game then you might decide to join the channel and ask if its ok to play with them and then add them on Steam or Origin.

Most of my friends list is made up of folks I either know in real life, or people I know from forums like boards. There's a handful I've added from playing good games of L4D or TF2 with, but they'd be very much in the minority.

A mix of people I know in real life, a few friends of friends and a lot of people from various clans/gaming groups over the years. Still only 40-50 though. My list in WoW was mostly people I'd grouped with at some point or another, so there's loads of names on it I don't recognise at all!

i used to add loads of people all time, enjoyed playing a game here or there with whoever, add them - I don't mind adding people so long as they dont bug me during a game to join a game I'm not playing. Or worse, some complete randomer you added starts spamming you with invites..

Had both happen and worse, also had some guy gift me stuff for no reason, asked him why the next time he logged in and he didnt know anything about it..

it was pretty cheap dlc for payday2 but still.. makes me want to be even more anti-social sometimes

My WoW list originally was populated with members of other guilds with full crafting recipes, along with ex-guild members. When the Cataclysm changes came in, interactions with people outside the guild became unnecessary and it was easy to see other guild members' crafting recipes.

Have about 20 on Steam. About 15 are either RL friends, or RL friends of RL friends. The rest are randomers that added me after good games in DotA2.
