What is this insect?

    It's big and turns its 'tail' up scorpian-like, as if it's going to sting.
    I think I heard it during the night - thought it was a mouse.
    Saw another outside a few weeks ago.
    This was by my feet when I got out of bed this morn!! :eek:
    The picture isn't great.

    Yikes - they bite!
    Never noticed them before this year.
    Between that and the mega spiders, my nerves will be gone!

    ive seen 66 yo spiders running around my house for the last couple of weeks jesus their massive this year

    Yeah the Devil's Coach horse beetle - we often get them in the house - they look pretty threatening but I've never been stung by one have been stung by a
    large ground beetle who ended up in my sock but it was only a little pinch. I think they are harmless enough.
