I recently put up fencing under the sheep fencing grand (1 strand electric 1 strand barbed and high tensile sheep wire. However my ewes are scratching against it I am concerned that over time this will damage the wire. Any help with how to prevent this would be much appreciated

    don't have sheep here,
but they only solution I reckon is to stop them scratching, they must have lice, or something like that, might need a dip or pour on etc etc

A dipping might help but that's unfortunately the problem with good fencing is it doesn't stay good forever

Maybe a strand of electric wire a foot or 2 off the ground

If ewes are scratching againist barb wire they could have scab, i would definitely dip them and possibly inject, otherwise your fence will be ruined

Definitely would be more worried about the sheep than the fencing. dipping is the best option if you can get it, otherwise an ivermectin injection.

Or put up some scratching posts..sheep will always scratch against what is available..You'd be scratching too if you had that much wool on you. But if there is wool on the ground around the field I would be thinking of parasites..Butox is quite good for that..or dip them.
If the wire is hi tensile and well erected I wouldn't worry..
