My hunt for a Spiker

I first saw this spiker about 3 weeks before the start of the season and him holding 3 hinds and 3 fawns I was watching him 2 or 3 times a week and was in position at dawn on the 1st September. I was watching him for about an hour waiting for him to come into me as I knew his route. Slowly slowly he came and when I was seconds from pulling the trigger this gob****e (other stalker) comes from my 3 o’clock with the wind at his back, bye, bye, spiker. I saw him a few more times since one of them was when a 10 pointer came looking for the hinds and wondered across my crosshairs (he was delicious). I got a shot at him last Friday but made a dogs dinner of it so much so he did not even know he was being shot at. Today I evened the score I spotted him at about 400 yards and knew I could get into 200 and no closer due to the lie of the land so away down the hill with me and as I was coming into position I had to break cover and lie in a cut field with no cover, no sign of him at first then I spot him at about 300 yards and there he is looking straight at me and me in the wide open field. The staring contest probably lasted about a minute but felt like over five I knew the line of bushes he was beside was 300 from me so as soon as he looked away I dialed in 5 clicks and dropped him on the spot.

Fine looking animal there. Nice gun. What is it?
