Just wondering do many of ye go shooting at the crack of dawn shooting crows and magpies checked the times its around 7:30-8 this week,
Might go out as it would a change from doing alot of lamping rabbits nd foxes!
Set up a few decoys, camo net down and fire away with the .22!:D

(BTW its vermin control causing problems on farmers newly sown grass nd livestock feed)

(Am i allowed use decoys or carrying out vermin control on crows/magpies?I know your allowed use a rifle for vermin if under derogation)

    Not logic, it's in legislation.

Section 41 of (Amendment) Act, 2000, which amends Section 33 of Wildlife Act 1976.....................................

41.—Section 33 of the Principal Act is hereby amended—

    (1) It shall be an offence for a person to hunt or injure in the course of hunting—

    (a) with a repeating or automatic shotgun (other than a repeating or automatic shotgun which is adapted or modified so as to render it incapable of carrying more than three shotgun cartridges), with an airgun, air-rifle, gas-rifle, pistol or revolver, or with any firearm fitted with a silencer device, any wild bird,

Can't believe you got "Likes" for that admission, or even that you made it, considering the content of this thread.

Makes me wonder what kind of people out there have firearms certificates.

did not know it was illegal to use decoys for magpies, as they can be bought in nearly every gun shop in ireland.
i now use a piece of a black refuge bag with a few strips of tinfoil glued on every bit as good.

No - you are simply carrying out routine vermin control and shooting birds as they land. In any case you can legally use live magpies as decoys for trapping purposes so it really isn't something you'd need be particularly concerned with from a legal standpoint
