ntl/upc wall boxes

    Hey all,

Bit of a weird question but do NTL/UPC wall socket boxes work exactly the same as a standard aerial wall connection.

I have two NTL wall boxes (but no standard aerial connections):

One in the living room which is giving me 17 analogue channels,

And one in my bedroom that doesn't seem to give me anything.

I'd love to be able to get some channels in the bedroom but can't afford digital at the moment. So I've tried connecting a Walker Saorview box to the NTL connection in the bedroom but I'm getting no signal. Tried connecting it to the living room wall socket as well and didn't get anything either.

Is there some issue with using saorview boxes through an NTL/UPC wall socket?

And if there is, have I any other options to get some TV in the bedroom?

    Any advice would be appreciated,

Saorview isn't carried over the UPC network, an aerial is required - http://www.saorview.ie/get-saorview/make-the-switch/step-2-check-aerial/. An indoor aerial might work depending on what the Saorview signal is like where you locate it.

If any of your TVs has a DVB-C cable tuner some of the digital channels are available unencrypted.

No signal at the bedroom socket could mean the cable has been disconnected somewhere, where do the cables connect into the UPC feed?

How do I find out if I have a DVB-C cable tuner? And if I have one, are you saying it's possible to get the digital channels without an aerial connection to the wall?

If the TV has a DVB-C cable tuner you should see something like Cable or DVB-C in the tuning menu.

The only channels available this way are the ones I linked to in the other post, not the full complement of Saorview channels I'm afraid.
