I have a 2003 tdi audi that a friend of mine parked up when he went to oz over 2 years ago. He is coming home shortly and asked me to buy a new battery and get it starting at least.
Its been outside and has not been started in the 2 years, having conflicting info with a few other friends on advice. What advice can ye offer, all appreciated and thanks in advance.

Tyres may have perished if it hasn't moved, check them. Brakes/handbreak may be seized. I would change the oil and possibly brake fluid also.

Before you connect a battery take a peek around for chewed wires/pipes in case rodents ran amock.

I have done a visual on it today, not worried about wheels as he took off the alloys and put on another set that he had lying around.
Discs are well rusted so may need replace or skim at least, possible caliper(s) seize or replace also. New pads also.
New oil and filter after getting it started, plan to start on old oil and filter.

Discs won't stay rusted for long, one dab of the pedal...

Did he pull the handbrake up or leave it in gear?
