After last years chemical attack in Syria, which was immediately blamed on Assad, Obama promised "surgical strikes" on Damascus/Assad, however they never materialised, the reason why they didn't materialise is less known.

According to sources, the US apparently did launch two ballistic missiles from a base in Spain, but Russian radar detected the launch and the trajectory, they were heading for Syria, so the Russians shot them down, the US administration were rattled and the British house of commons in turn rejected to participate in a war with Syria.

Russia then saved US embarrassment by omitting the word "downed" from a released statement, immediately after taking down the US's missiles, Russian intelligence notified US intelligence that "Hitting Damascus is hitting Moscow", obviously the US were rattled because Russia ain't the type of military the US like to take on.

    Here's the article here:

    Truth of US-Russia Confrontation

Aggression was over the Moment those Two Missiles were Fired

A well informed diplomatic source told As-Safir newspaper that “the US war on Syria had started and ended the moment those two ballistic missiles were fired, leaving inconsistent information, as Israel denied and Russia confirmed, until an Israeli statement was issued indicating they were fired in the context of an Israeli-US joint drill and fell in the sea, and that they were not related to the Syrian crisis.”
