Any flights to the Azores or Madeira?

I know this is the aviation forum but I wonder if there is any direct flights from Ireland to either the Azores or Madeira? I'd like to send my parents on a weeks vacation and they have done the Canary Islands before but the Portuguese Islands seem like a nice attraction if there was direct flight either scheduled or charter from Ireland. I can't find anything from Dublin thus far? Any aviation gurus know anything?

Pretty sure there's a charter to funchal in Madeira during the summer but for the life of me I can't remember who it's for. There's no scheduled commercial flight unfortunately so it's a charter or fly via lhr or mad.

I think Madeira is much more developed for tourism than the Azores. Madeira tends to attract an older tourist (there are no beaches) so it should be ideal for your parents. As you've already discovered, there are no scheduled flights from Ireland, this is principally because the people who go there tend to be the older types who prefer a package so virtually all of the flights from Ireland are charters, it's not really a destination for the independent traveller/backpacker.

Google 'ireland travel madeira' and you'll see several tour operators who go there, including Abbey Travel, Budget and the Travel Department.

No direct flights currently, the carrier pulled them at the last minute this year. Not sure about 2015 but unlikely.
