Squeaky crank? How do I fix it?

I got a new bike about 3 months ago. for the last week, what I think is the crank is loudly squeaking on the downstroke (It's difficult to pinpoint the noise). I have checked the seatpost and tightened it but the squeak is still there.

The noise seems to go away after a few miles or a decent out of the saddle effort. I am new to cycling and have no idea about diagnosing or fixing this problem.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

First off, virtually every noise like that on a bike seems to come from the BB/crank area, but often they do not. I find it helpful to try to rule out contact points one at a time at first, i.e. if it goes away out of the saddle and comes back when you sit again, check the seatpost/saddle; if it doesn't happen when cycling hands free, or with minimal contact on the handlebars, check the bars/headset area. If it persists through all that, then look to the crank/wheels. Try pedalling with only one foot (easiest on the flat and with cleats), and if it goes away for one side, it might be that pedal, or something on that side of the crankset. Also check skewer tensions for the wheels, and maybe grease the dropouts slightly, as these are hard to isolate properly, for obvious reasons.

If it is only 3 months old, and purchased brand new, bring it back to the shop, should FoC to repair.

Squeaks which appear out on the road are often difficult to replicate at the bike shop.

Try removing the pedals put copper grease on the threads and refit.

Check screws in pedals ( if any visible), make sure there is no loose on wheels, check is this on any gears, or specific. If specific - gears should be adjusted. Does bike has first service? Should be sorted anyway by shop without cost.

Losen wheels and tad of grease on skewers.
