Does anyone know of anyone who has been clamped as a result of entering the incorrect registration number? If so did they appeal it and we're they successful? iv been directed to appeal to the independent parking people and pay 20e? am I wasting my time?

I have a Dublin City Payzone parking solution; the account is specific to the registration number provided initially to them and linked to your mobile phone; a restriction I wasn't aware of when I used the service one morning in town driving a car other than my own( garage car while mine getting serviced).
On return, clamped! Paid the fee but was reimbursed 50% of fee once I provided proof that I had paid for parking in the zone during the period that they had attached the clamp; so I would say, if you have paid a fee and can prove that fact, appeal.

I park there all the time and just pressed a wrong digit on my registration, I paid 7e for the day but they wrote back saying it was my responsibility but I don't feel that I should pay the full fee for it as I didn't illegally park and have proof so I requested half back to cover their staffing and admin costs which I believe I am responsible for paying as it was my error, 20e to appeal seems like a joke though and if I lost I lose it

I'd be inclined to agree with them that it's your responsibility to ensure you provide them with the correct details. However €20 for an appeal is a bit much.

Save your €20, in my experience it is a total waste of time. You will get back a stock reply along the lines that you didn't have a valid parking ticket / permit and were therefore clamped.

I was recently stung for entering in the wrong car registration number number as well, I was one digit off! Has anyone ever tried appealing this, if so, what was the outcome?

The Independent Parking Appeals Service board seems rather pointless as it was set up by the clampers themselves, surely they are going to be biased!

Would you be better of going to the small claims court?

Also, I also heard of cases where private clampers have clamped cars, only for those clamped to cut the chain off. Because they are only private companies and not county council clampers, they have no right to appeal you cutting/tampering with the clamp. Has anyone ever heard of this being done or is there any truth to it?

    Thanks
