Is the newer (current) Audi Multitronic still as dodgy as in the past?

I have read all sorts of stories about Audi's Multitronic transmission being unreliable and very costly to have fixed.

Are the current automatic Audi auto models still as risky or have they been modified or upgraded in any way? Would, say, a used A4 or A6 from around 2010 to present day still be a risky proposition?

I know the S-Tronic box is regarded much more highly but only found in Quattro cars afaik.

A colleague has an 09 and has had issues. .....

It's also not very economical. Nothing as good as an S-Tronic. I didn't't think they were confined to Quattro but I'm open to correction on that

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

Yep, gearboxes on Quattros are perceived as more reliable - relative to the Multitronic box.

Haven't had any issues with recent Multitronic boxes, and we've quite a few A4's & A6's on the road with that box. A4's from 08 have been generally reliable - there is still a flywheel that eventually needs replacing.

Only had a few old model A6 Auto's, but have quite a few new models with the Multitronic and they've been OK so far.

S-Tronic is just coming in on the Facelifted A6 with FWD. Up until now it has been quattro models only in A4 upwards.

Have an 06 B7 model A4 with Multitronic and have never had any issues.
