    Hi,

Looking for a good campsite for next summer in the Dordogne and recommendations?

We would like a site with a good pool complex and decent slides and some evening entertainment. I would probably go to St Avit Losirs as that looks what I am after and I got a great review of a lad in work who was there last year. Problem is he is going again this year at the same time I want to go:rolleyes: and we arent that great of friend that I want to be seeing every day.

So first time in the area so any ideas.

    Thanks

stayed in les peneyrals this year and it was perfect for us. 5 star, It has everything especially the indoor heated pool for the odd wet day, fab mobiles booked with the site, excellent reviews on trip advisor, entertainment every night, kids club twice a day, kids play football all day long if let!!
Do I sound like I miss it???

Only a few miles from Sarlat,

so much to see and do in the Dordogne area its a fab holiday

We;ve stayed here on a few occasions and loved it http://www.lapalombiere.fr/en/ The chocolate fondants in the restaurant are fab!!

Its a well run campsite and not too big. There is entertainment most nights. And its about 15 minutes, perhaps less, from Sarlat.

The Dordogne is incredibly beautiful. We've stayed there quite a few times.

its a lovely place. the heated indoor pool is unbeatable and they can run out to splash down the slides too . request a mobile near the all weather football area as they will spend loads of time there in the evenings and you'll be near enough to keep an eye on them. There's also archery on site way over by the lake. If you are driving you could bring a few putters for mini golf as it worked out quite expensive for my gang who played often. We bought badminton racquets in Decathlon and the kids enjoyed playing badminton on our own pitch. We had a mobile with a covered deck which was brilliant as we had a good few rain showers and I could leave the towels out.

In Sarlat itself there is a great sweetshop , tell them to save their pocket money as its not cheap but they have unusual sweets that you wouldnt see everywhere.
Theres a macaron shop nearby on the same street. they are all pedestrianised anyway.

Best supermarket is the Carrefour in Sarlat and definitely not the nearer intermarche in..., I cant remember the name of the village. Theres a Decathlon in Brive.

We visted Lascaux caves, Rocamadour, Beynac,. Every village is more picturesque than the last.

Try to get a canoe on the river Dordogne. We just had a boat trip down the river on a Gabarre ( small barge ) but there were lots of canoes about.

Oh and the trees growing around the campsite? Walnuts:)

Planning on driving straight down from Cherbourg - hoping to make it 8 hours
