Outlook stops being able to send emails every day

I work in a small office and all four of us here are having the same problem the past week or so on our windows computers running Outlook 2010.

Basically, every day at about half 12, the email stops sending emails for the rest of the day until at least 7 or 8pm. We can still receive them, just emails sit in the outbox, and I get prompted to reenter my username and password. The next day it works fine for the morning, until the same thing happens.

I've tried using the Android Mail client and Thunderbird, neither of which have a problem.

It's a pop3 email account. Our IT provider has no idea what the problem is, and claims it's nothing on his end.

Who's your provider for your email and your ISP? Your outgoing SMTP server settings need to match those of your ISP (possibly with authentication).

It's provided by a small local company, and the email address is @ourdomain.com . I've been through all the SMTP settings with them, and they are the same on my phone and on Thunderbird. The settings work fine in the mornings. It literally only occurs in the afternoon.

You may have some interfering security software, what protection are you using? Try disable it temporarily and do a Send / Receive.

    Hi Blisterman

The problem is going to be with your exchange team rather then your own settings

as you are being asked for your details again and again it points to the problem with the exchange servers. this can be caused by either their active directory or the ram they have on their servers not being able to cope with volume on certain times of they day

Again as it is not only you but more people leads to exchange issues

Thanks for the advice. My computer uses Microsoft Security Essentials, while my colleagues use McAfee, we all have the same problem, so I don't think it's specific to any one program.

All signs point to it being a problem on the email provider's side. However it seems strange that it only occurs with Outlook, while other programs work. Is there some setting in Outlook which could be changed to try and make it work more like Thunderbird?

I reckon it's to do with authentication, can you check its enabled please with "My server requires authentication"

You should be able to telnet to your email account to test settings.

It seems bad synchronization with Outlook settings. Apart from this, you should also ensure with firewall setting.
