Interesting little beginners chase between three decent hurdlers at Exeter today (3:10).

Far West while not winning last year, was second to Our Conor in that epic triumph hurdle performance. He's continually raced against above average performers and the fact that he goes chasing at only 5 tells you that his future always was over a fence.

Puffin Billy seemed to be a horse with a serious future two years ago when being a prominent player for the supreme only to lose his way in teh last 12 months. He has probably always been considered a chaser in the making so it will be interesting to see how he goes here.

Dunraven Storm while probably not being as good as the other two over hurdles is older and maybe a bit battle hardened emphasised by his handicap win at Taunton two races ago. He couldn't do anything at Aintree in his last run of the year but again he was top weight there.

Probably more of a watching brief today but I'm going to take a small chance on Puffin Billy in the hope that he can rediscover some of that old talent that made him an exciting prospect a couple of years ago.

Had a punt last night on Persumido @ 25/1 in the 3.30 Lingfield as Boyles were slow to cut this one and was priced as low as 12s in places.

All his 3 wins came at Lingfield, and back down to last winning mark now. Will come late to challenge and there will def be a strong pace set which will help. Looks a good e/w shout for sure.

Unrelated to todays racing, but Richard Hughes has been awarded Champion Jockey after Ryan Moore confirmed he won't ride again in Britain this season.

    Congrats Hughsie!!

The hardy old vet Dunraven Storm takes it.
