Can anybody tell me how I go about requesting a copy of my employee file?

I need documents from a particular period of time, for 11 months out of the last 6 years. Is it possible to request this?
Who do I apply to? Is it the manager? The HR department? Do I just send an email requesting it?

I've had a look on citizens information and it gives lots of good info on the freedom of information act etc but I'm just not sure how to actually get the ball rolling.
    All info appreciated!

    Thanks :)

    Hey,

In order to get your employee file in whole or in part you need to write to HR under section 4 of the Data Protection Acts seeking your file. Include €6.35 which is the maximum required. Also include any details like your DOB or PPS so they can identify you. They have 40 days to comply.

If you look up dataprotection.ie you will get more info.

    Best of luck

Agreed. The OP might even get it sooner than 40 days :)
