Would you need planning to extend dairy to take a larger bulk tank? Currently have an 1100 gal tank with 2.5 ft of space all round it hoping to put in a 3200 gal tank so will need to widen and lengthen the dairy and add 2 ft overhead.

Well im not applying for permission any way.
I think there a certain area your allowed buiod up to before you need permission.
Not sure how much it is but its quite a big area so ye should be fine.
    Were just extending ours

dont think you need the 2.5ft on all sides? I am in the process of taking down dairy door and a bit of the front wall to faciltate my new tank.

That's what's there currently, the new tank will be taller longer and wider. It will be done with the grant think u need 2 ft around it, could be wrong now

2ft on 2 sides I thik. Our dairy is 12×15. If we go for new tank we will build on to make it 22×15ft for 12.5k tank it'll be nice and roomy and bright hopefully .
You only need the 2ft around it until you get grant approval so ye can push it back then if you want

600mm on 3sides. 600mm is about 1/2 inch under 2ft. That 1/2 inch saved our bacon ha!

Ran into a problem like this 4 yrs ago. Room too small for tank, so would have needed to get planning permission for extension for grant to pass. Went for an outdoor tank instead.
Modifications to tank to make it an out door tank was €1200 (grant aided), worked out fine.
