    Hi Guys,

As per the title, anyone have any experience with the forged versions of Planet X's Ultra Light calipers? Them seem good value and very light, just wondering if they are made of cheese or if they are actually a decent set of stoppers?

I've got them installed on my road bike, they work well when set-up, but: as the the pads wears, the operating eccentric goes over its top-dead-centre point and the brakes lock onto the wheel. I've worked around this by adding spacers to move the pad closer to the rim, but I wouldn't have bought them had I known (and Planet-X didn't respond to my complaint).

I have set on my road bike. They are indeed light, not to mention that they work reasonably well and look pretty cool. That said, they go off centre easily and have to be tweaked.

I've never had RP's problem, but I can see from the design how it could happen.

Put it this way, if you offered me a pair of Ultegra or Dura Ace brakes instead, I'd take your hand off.

Okay, so these calipers are not without their short comings then! Would it be fair to say that the actual braking performance is okay when properly adjusted and pads are reasonably fresh? or should I just avoid them altogether? I'm happy tweaking them prior to each ride, but don't want to be stopping during a ride to make further adjustments......

They are great when set-up, and to be fair, since I figured out how to shim them to match my rims (Krysiums), they've worked without problem.

Thanks guys, I might just take a punt on a set then, can't really go wrong for £40!
