I wish I could help but I'm looking for the same info myself. Ireland is so diesel centric I'm thinking I could get better value in a 320i. I do 6k miles a year so probably better idea

It bears thinking about. The more modern ones don't seem too bad. Surely can't be too bad with 1146 co2. Plus I seem to hear it's a bad idea for someone with my mileage to have to look after a diesel

Those 320i examples are base ES models despite the claims of one of the sellers. Proper decent spec SE or M Sport would be nicer.

drove one last night, hated it. Plus no good as the occasional family car, no legroom and small boot

I had an e92 320i and had nothing but trouble with the engine. It suffered a well known issue with the injectors. Basically car goes into limp mode and runs really rough, bring it to a dealer, they replace the injectors\coils \ plugs, clear the faults, works ok for a few weeks then same problem again...and again ...and again.. plenty of information and other users with the same problem. I think there may have been a recall for it but just google 320i injector \coil issues e90 and you will find loads of people with the same fault. Heres a thread for example..

Have a look at a similar vintage Honda Accord or Subaru Legacy then.
