    Manufacturer Apple
    Capacity 250GB
    RAM 2GB

Used Refurbished MacBook "Core 2 Duo" 2.4 13-Inch (White Polycarbonate "Unibody" - Mid-2010) features a 2.4 GHz GHz Intel "Core 2 Duo" processor (P8600) -- with two independent processor "cores" on a single silicon chip -- a 3 MB shared "on chip" level 2 cache, a 1066 MHz frontside bus, 2 GB of 1066 MHz DDR3 SDRAM (PC3-8500) installed in pairs (two 1 GB modules), a 250 GB Serial ATA (5400 RPM) hard drive, and an 8X DL "SuperDrive." For graphics, it has a NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics processor with 256 MB of SDRAM "shared with main memory" driving a 13.3" widescreen TFT active-matrix LED-backlit "glossy" display (1280x800 native resolution).

Like its predecessor, this model uses a polycarbonate "glossy white unibody" case design with a "non-skid" rubberized bottom surface. However, external improvements compared to its predecessor include a new "inertial" multi-touch trackpad and a redesigned "MagSafe" power safe connector. Internally, like its predecessor, it has an integrated battery design that is not intended to be replaced by the end user. It has a faster processor and improved graphics as well. Connectivity includes AirPort Extreme (802.11a/b/g/n), Gigabit Ethernet, two USB 2.0 ports, a single audio in/out port, and a Mini DisplayPort that passes an audio as well as a video signal and supports an external display at 2560x1600. It does not have a Firewire port or IR to support a remote

€400 for a 4? year old laptop with 5 year old components! Yeah that's a bargain . Go ask for help finding a laptop here to find one within your budget. I've seen people dropping stupid amounts of money on old iphones & ipods, but this is just ridiculous.

That's not a bargain, if you drop the operating system its worth about €50. The machine itself is about as powerful as an iphone 5. It's at least 5 years old. EDIT: I've see its from 2010 but I bought a very similar laptop with most of the same parts in 2006/2007.

As far as I know they aren't supported from security or any other updates from Apple recently and there has been a lot of malware released for Macs in the last few weeks. Buying this is the equivalent to buying a laptop running windows XP.

I've had a look through that shop and it looks extremely dodgy, it's the most expensive computer shop I've ever seen also.

Not true. The latest version of OS X was released on Thursday and will run on machines quite a bit older than this. And I haven’t heard anything about a sudden onset of malware for the Mac.

I compared it to online sites like Adverts and it seemed very competitiv, especially when it comes with a 12 month warranty:
When buying NUsed (as new to you) at smartspot we promise to provide you with a quality product. We clean, strip, and refurbish all our NUsed products, and each device undergoes a rigorous testing process.

Each NUsed device bought from us is also covered by a 12 month warranty, giving you complete peace of mind. At smartspot we will accept nothing less than for our NUsed products to be as good as new to you.

However I've noticed that people on this forum get fairly hostile if they don't think it's a bargain! Lesson learned...

I think this is older than the cutoff for receiving the update. You obviously don't read much tech news, 30,000 macs have been infected with a botnet operating through redidit.

Can you link to where you can get a c2d 2.4 laptop for €50. I might be interested in one of those as a spare machine.

Oxfam sell them, I cant find the link, I'll try in a minute.

Their selection isn't great, adverts usually has some.

Actually I vaguely recall hearing something about this. But it didn’t get much coverage on any of the blogs I follow. And nobody I know here or offline got it, so it can’t have been that bad. Anti-virus software houses are always crying about Mac malware.

And Yosemite will run on any early 2009 or newer Plastic MacBook. This model is from 2010.

Depends what you're going to be using it for I guess but in my opinion it's pretty bad value for a 5 year old laptop.

In the past 2 months I've seen several refurbished copies of this exact same laptop sell for €700. To some of those people I'm sure they would have loved seeing this thread so don't feel disheartened by the hostility.

€700 for a $6 processor, 250hdd and 2GB ram? Fools and their money...

They cost about a grand new - they are not worth €700 and anyone who paid that much was fleeced.

Not finding any for 50. I decided I'd try searching on adverts specifically for a 2010 Macbook

It may not a bargain for a Wintel Laptop, but then it isn't a Wintel laptop. So can anyone find a cheaper link for a Macbook of this spec?

This laptop is not half as bad as people are saying. The processor actually isn't two bad even though its 5 years old and is only slightly below other new laptops for the 400 mark.

    cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=Intel+Core2+Duo+P8600+%40+2.40GHz

Stick in 2GB of ram and you have a decent machine for people who prefer macs over laptops. Perfect laptop for everyday use.

As much as i love macs, they are not good value for money.
Your better off saving that €400 and get a better pc that isnt 4 years old.
