Just looking on Google and it has a 60km, 53 min drive from Sligo to Ballina.

    Is this accurate?

There doesn't seem to be any bottlenecks on the journey so would this be commutable?

no bottlenecks as such no, but it's a pox of a road. travel time is accurate.

I work with someone who does this commute daily but from Ballina to Sligo, definitely doable, but she says she won't enjoy the winter too much.

Very doable. Doing it for a few years even through the bad winters a few years back. Road is generally gritted during frosty weather but ive seen some very bad crashes on it over the years and came across some fatal ones. Some mad overtaking and cameravans to watch out for too
