In the Heart of the Sea

This interests me in that it's the allegedly true story that inspired Melville to write Moby Dick, but I'm not a fan of Ron Howard's work in general.

I read the book 'In the heart of the sea' and it is fantastic. I am really looking forward to this. I am however a bit concerned about the trailer, the whale attack on the ship is a very small part of the book. It is what happens afterwards that is the truly amazing part. The trailer makes it look a bit like an action movie with sea monsters. I hope the film isn't like that.

Really liked the book, hope the film does it justice

The release date for this has been changed from March 13 to December 11.

The reason given is very vague. Apparently the results from test screenings were very positive and as a result they decided that the film would play better to a bigger audience in December.

Didn't know this was being made... Currently reading the book, and enjoying it immensely!

A new trailer has been released. The release date is now set for December 26th in Ireland.

This new trailer makes me even more concerned that this film will not be what I hoped. I was hoping for a film that would closely follow the book which is mainly about the ship, the crew and their survival story. The whale attack being only a small part. But this is looking much more like an action/monster movie.

I hope that they have just cut the trailer to include all the action in order to draw in a bigger audience. If however it is a good action movie about a game of cat and mouse between sailors and a whale, it might still be enjoyable, just not what I was hoping for.

It is due out in Ireland on 26th December. But it comes out in the US and parts of Europe a couple of weeks before on 11th December and in Australia on the 3rd December. So we will get a chance to hear some reviews long before we get to see it. I'm still hoping that it will be good. If it is, I would love to see it on as big a screen as possible so hopefully not every decent screen in the country will be showing The Force Awakens.

Is it my imagination or is this becoming more of a trend over the past year.

Another is Creed, its been out in states a while but not out here until after new year.

It's hard to pin point too as unlike video games, a search generally just shows the single release date.

I had to find out through the IMC site when they're both out here since the online dates are showing far in advance.

I remember back in the 90's there was often a lag between release dates where we'd be a fair bit behind. I thought that was going the way of the dodo what with the internet making it possible to access instant pirate versions.

Normally it's only around awards season that screener copies get leaked out and find their way onto pirate sites, unless you're counting cam versions which are always terrible.

Saw it tonight, it's decent enough, I'd say 7/10.

Watched it a few days ago. Solid movie but does lose momentum towards the middle and the end. 6-7/10
