hi all, hope this is the right section.
a relation if mine is a oap and they have a landline every couple of months it has a problem and wont work it takes a week to get someone out to look and then they need someone else to look which takes another few days (the fault is never on my relations side)
long and short is for the little it is used and the cost of line rental 30euro a month a few short calls i think its time to get it out.
is there any government aid to mobile phone for oap?

The phone allowance is gone, there is no payment at all for a phone. When our neighbour got a mobile, it was a DORO one, as it has big numbers and he left it plugged in at all times, so it would work when he needed it.

He put (we enter the credit) €10 every 2 months into it. If he was in hospital, he brought the phone with him and plugged it in there!

    Hope this helps.

Yes it worked very well, though later he had the pendant around his neck also, this was linked tothe land line.

I thought keeping it plugged in all the time would prob kill the battery, but his lasted fine.

    What payment?

The telephone allowance was discontinued as per the budget 2014 & came into effect in January 2014.
