1 The inscription on the edge reads "Eiri Amach na Casca 1916" but varieties exist with different spellings.
2 About 50% of these coins have opposite edge orientations.
3 About 1,270,000 of these coins were melted down between 1970 and 1982.
4 A very small number of double proof sets exist, perhaps less than 50?
5 Triple coin sets exist
6 The UN coin programme was launched in 1995 but the Irish UN pound was released in late 1997.
7 Some 25,000 of the one pound proof coins were placed into the CBI's note-and-coin folder in 2001.
8 Coins with plain milled edge may exist.
