Seek out bloodbath. He builds PCs for people. Can find him on adverts.

    What is your budget?

To start with, I would try and convince him to get a PS4 instead. Much less of a headache for you. :p

My own nephew has one since he was about 9.
Kids pick up that stuff easy. You are talking at least 5-600 euro. But the upside is you don't need subscriptions every year like x box or ps4. Games are a lot cheaper.

    So you are building it?

    Hardwareversand is the cheapest site.

    You need a CPU processor.
    Motherboard
    Ram(Memory)
    Graphics card for gaming
    Power supply
    Case
    Harddrive
    Diskdrive.
    Windows 8

If you are going to build it fair play. If you don't want to build it. the site can build it for you and ship ready made.

I think for you be much easier to find bloodbath on adverts. He will pick the parts and build it for you. He will know what you need when you tell him what its for.

A gaming pc that just turns on and works.

do not go down the self build route, Bloodbath would be your best option.

    Hi There ,
best advice would be to set a budget first and then stick to it , like most other stuff one buys , there is always one that is a little better and a little faster and only cost a little more , and the next thing , you spending like 2k on it.The next question would be does he want a desktop or laptop and then does he want and Apple Mac or PC ( as in windows )

I would suggest a Desktop as I believe you will get better value for money in a desktop.
Between Apple Mac and PC , I would go for a PC as it is more game friendly.
Next step would be going to a place like PC world or Harvey and ask staff for best Gaming PC and the middle of the road gaming PC , that should give you and indication on what the going price would be ( don't be afraid to jot down the specs of the PC ) now you can browse online stores and or shops and have some idea of what they talking about.

    Hope that helps :)

ps.. for gaming PC's its all about best display cards or video graphics cards, once u have a budget , post it , and i'm sure myself and others will post what we think the best deals around are :)

You could get a laptop for that then, they're powerful enough now, but expensive. Might be nice to have though for general purposes too, not like a cheap laptop.

I think PC Specialist might be a good bet even though they're expensive.

A gaming laptop and a young kid. Yeah. I'd probably avoid that. Dropping it, Spilling stuff on it.....

It sounds like the kid is old enough to be responsible with it if he knows that he wants a PC for the games he wants. I don't know, up to the guy.

Don't play minecraft myself, but I did a quick search. It might be the firewall or antivirus blocking it. Turn them off to check, if it is them create a rule to let minecraft through.

Have you picked a server to play on?
    http://minecraftservers.net/

Or setting up a local game.

Bit out of my depth here, hopefully a minecraft expert will be along soon.

Minecraft is different to most games in that it can either be played locally on the PC or coop style with other people. Which means it needs a little bit of setup after the install. I would suggest you search for beginners guide in youtube to learn more.
