It'll be used for 3D stuff (Cinema 4D), video editing and music. I mostly need a decent CPU for Cinema, which does 90% of the work on the CPU, and good RAM for music.

RAM isn't on the list because I couldn't seem to find it there. I'm looking at these.

It's been a long time since I put a computer together, so thought I'd let some others take a look. I already have a monitor, optical drive and peripherals. The only thing I gotta get is a firewire port for my camera.

Are you buying this in the US?

What about getting an Intel system with integrated graphics? Cuts the cost of getting a dedicated card. The pentium anniversary if you want to save money or a quad core i5 if you have more to splash around. Also, you wouldn't need a 650W PSU for that. More like 350W.

I'll be buying from Komplett, mostly because I bought my other computers from there and it's handy.

I'm not gonna need the graphics card too much, as I don't play PC games very often (Just the odd emulator for my NES and Sega games that won't work any more), so I went with a cheap option. I've only ever used onboard graphics cards with laptops, is there much difference? I would like to use dual monitors.

You can use dual monitors with Intel's integrated graphics (3 if you can find the right motherboard) and even up to four with AMD's APUs. Onboard graphics have come a long way in recent years. I say onboard, but it's more like on-chip. Intel have it on most of their CPUs apart from server chips. AMD have GPUs on their FM2+ and AM1 lines of their CPUs, which they call APUs.

Komplett aren't the cheapest nowadays. Is there a budget?

I'd like to keep the budget around the 500 to 600 mark. I'll take a look at Intel CPUs. I'm having a hard time finding a good motherboard that has firewire built in, if you know of any?

Firewire is not that common on boards, you'll get it more on high end boards, but it seems to be phased out at that. Is using an add in card an option?

That's €550 and you need a case. You'd be talking about a good, long lasting CPU there. Shopping around would probably get better prices.
