    Dear member,

I would like to get a vintage watch, one of the luxury ones, like Rolex, Omega etc for a big birthday. Can you please recommend a watchmaker who can provide a service? A standard service for a hand wind model, what sort of price is it likely to be charges?

    Thank you.

    Best Regards,

    Jen

There are a few dealers out there that provide servicing for Rolex / Omega etc. that all will be much cheaper than the authorised dealers.
In Dublin there is Dawson Jewellers,
In Galway there is WatchDealer (.)ie,
I've dealt with both and found both very professional. Just keep in mind though that if you buy a watch that needs a service it could get very pricy if needs any parts. Why not buy one that has already been serviced by the dealer / seller and had a warranty?

The lads over at the watchmakers forum have loads of old threads about buying and servicing vintage watches.

A standard service will likely put you back €100 or so. An authorised dealer, or indeed a high end dealer will cost multiples of that.
