My dad was just setting some matches to record on Sky+, seems the Munster game is being shown on Sky tomorrow but the Leinster game is only on BT on Sunday, presumably because of the British clubs' new deal with them. Does this essentially mean one has to subscribe to BT as well or miss out on a crapload of matches this year, or is there another channel showing them that one would get with a standard Sky + Sky Sports connection?

Probably should've seen this coming, but we were, as you can imagine, more than a little peeved. :p

Yeah you will have to subscribe to BT to get all the games. Their coverage IMO anyway is pretty good but yes it's not fair on the supporters to have to pay for two subs now to get all the games.

When you say BT, is that the same as Setanta?

The plus side to this bullshi't is that going to the game might become a more attractive option. :)

It's a five channel bundle. Two Setanta channels, ESPN and the two BT channels. That is with UPC anyway.

Only if the game is a home game.

Some of bts games are also available on beIN sports. Though I think thats a webstreaming only service and also requires a sub.

Thanks but I am with Sky. Does anyone know if those BT channels are on the Sky offering?

Christ this BT coverage is cringe.

As BT & Sky now share the european games you need to subscribe to both if you want be sure of seeing all games.

Leinster & Ulster are on BT and Munster on Sky this week. Next week Munster & Ulster are on BT with Leinster on Sky.

I'm personally not too impressed with now having to also subscribe to BT when I could watch all the Heineken Cup on Sky for the last number of years.

Well, if you arent with sky for TV overall. the setanta plus pack is better value as a UPC customer.

I'm currently with Sky and paying €100 per month for all channels, Sky Sports, HD & multiroom.

And many arent though. Which is the point i was making. If I was to get sky sports, I'd get none of their red button features with an extra charge for hd, I'd be paying more to get less service.

But hey, I've now lost out on top14 and pro12 coverage.

I don't get the fuss over this at all. Coverage for football has been split for a while as it is now, no surprise its happened here with this.

They are on satellite, though you deal direct with Setanta rather than Sky.

In fact the Setanta pack on UPC is actually only four channels, because Setanta Ireland isn't part of it.

You think so? With the additional cost of having to get the Setanta pack each month, I decided not to renew my season ticket. So I'll be going to less matches :(

Ulster vs Toulon next week is live on Sky not BT.

I'm always banging on about the competing TV providers carving up the matches, and the introduction of BT to European rugby has been a pain - most people are reluctant to take out a second subscription to watch the European matches. But someone has posted a deal on the Bargain Alerts thread. Setanta are offering their sports package (That's Setanta 1 and 2, ESPN, and BT 1 and 2) for €99 for a year - one off payment.

    The T & C's:

    TERMS & CONDITIONS
SERVICE BILLED AT €99 FOR ONE YEAR. THIS IS A ONE OFF PAYMENT, THE SERVICE WILL NOT RENEW AFTER THIS PERIOD. OFFER AVAILABLE ON SATELLITE ONLY. OFFER IS NOT AVAILABLE TO CURRENT CUSTOMERS. OFFER ENDS 9AM SUNDAY 29TH NOVEMBER. FIXTURES SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

It's available to the first 1000 customers. I had a couple of their deals last season, and found it a total pain to keep having to ring and cancel, and cut a new deal. This makes life easier, works out cheap enough (€8.25 per month), provided you can stump up €99 in one go. Note that it's for satellite customers only.
