Got to my car this evening and the battery was flat (no lights etc left on). Im presuming its just old at this stage, battery was last changed about 6 years ago id say.

Once I get it jump started tomorrow, what are the chances of my local small independent garage having a replacement battery handy there and then or am I better of to go straight to the likes of halfords where i know they would have one in stock?

    Thanks

Your local motor factors should have a suitable battery in stock unless it's an unusual one.

Lots of exhaust and car tyre places will have them too, should be easy to get one today.

Watch out though that there is not some other problem i.e. that the battery is not being charged properly when the car is running. Otherwise, even if you buy a new battery, it could be flat quite quickly again.
