I'm not sure where you'd get a new one from, I know the local District Veterinary Office is the place to call for Dispatch books for selling.

Keeping it in order, there are instructions in the book. You must write down the tag numbers of animals for certain "events" like tagging, selling, deaths, replacement of lots tags etc. - obviously very important if you record a death you must have a knackery receipt for the animal.

There's a part, can't think is it in the front of the register or the back where you have to record what numbers you had, this should tally with your annual sheep Census which will be coming out in December.

I think if you bring sheep to a mart and don't sell, that has to be recorded as a movement off farm, then back onto farm.

It's not that hard, just be sure you keep absolutely on top of it, would also say keep a diary in your own words incase anything goes wrong you have a bit of back up instead of a puzzled look. It's easy to fall behind then you might have trouble remembering what you did and when.

Standing by to be corrected on most of that :pac:

As I understand it, when you but , say 10 ewes, you do not need to record the individual tag numbers. Just the fact that there were ten brought into the herd. Unless they have consecutive numbers, in which case you can list the first and last number, there is just about room for that. At the front of the book, there is a page where you record the date of Census, number of sheep in flock, and date of return of Census to Dept.

Keep your movement dockets received safe, as this lists individual ear tag numbers.
Make sure when buying sheep, that the pink carbon copy is sent in to local Dept. Office. Take the pink copy and do it yourself if the seller seems a little "disorganised"
No harm to keep a "running total" in your register as each event takes place, perhaps in a green biro or something in the "Remarks" column.

ya a new flock register can be got by ringing the DVO for your County also, they will just ask you for your flock number and send it out then,

Fill out the register using pencil
Filling in sales is handy using your dispatch dockets deaths and retagging are the ones ya'll have to keep on top of
