    Background
We are a small club that was established c6 years ago. We currently have about 10 members and are based in the Dublin area. We are predominantly a long distance club with the majority of club members focusing their 'A' race on the Ironman distance. We have good experience at long distance racing and have completed numerous IM's round the world from Australia to Hawaii, to Europe with times from 8H45mins (the Irish Record) to 12 hrs. We generally go away once a year as a group and complete a race together (we are heading to Austria next year).

We are putting a call out there to see if there is anyone interested in joining the club and below are some of the details of when we train.

    Swim
Monday nights in Tallaght at 9pm. 45 minute swim session with the focus on technique for the next couple of months. This will build as the season progresses to more of an endurance focus. We also put together swim sessions to complete on your own outside of the Monday night. Our members train also in the KCR, Naas and Northwood.

    Bike
Sunday is a long bike. This will be starting up again in November after the end of season break. We generally head into the Wicklow Mountains (as long as it is not icy) for a 3-4 hour cycle. Some of us have kids so we tend to head out early in the morning so you get back home before lunch and the training doesn't eat into the whole day. In the summer for the 5hr+ cycle the odd 6am start has happened!! Generally though we meet at about 8 or 9am. On days we dont go into the mountains we head out through Kildare (we will hold around 30kph on average).

Meeting points would be either Newcastle (Co Dublin - near Avoca on the N7), the Tallaght by-pass, Blessington and Naas - depending on route and who is going.

As the race season approaches the time in the saddle will increase to 4-5hrs and we will move towards the N4 between Kilcock and Kinnegad. This road, whilst not the most interesting, is quiet early on a Sunday morning and is perfect for TT efforts.

There are also a couple of members close to the Airport and they would arrange ad hoc cycles around the Naul from time to time.

    Run
There are no specific organised run sessions but there are a couple of members who meet up on an ad hoc basis on Sandymount strand and do an easy run at lunch time (Mon-Fri). Generally we meet about 1230 a couple of days a week and run about 30 minutes together and then head back to the various offices we work in.

Joining fee is €20 and you must be a TI member. As you can see from the above we are set up primarily for the long distance athlete so if you are competing in one of the longer races next year and a looking for a training group to do some of your sessions with just drop us a line. (PM me).

    Thanks

    Darren

Just bringing this back to the top again.

We will be heading out on Sunday morning (meeting around 9) for 2-3 hrs easy. Will probably meet around the Tallaght by pass somewhere.

If anyone is interested PM me.
