NUIG Graduation Questions

HI guys, just have a couple of quick questions about the upcoming conferrals - of which I am attending.

    1) Parking; I know theres shuttle busses running in and out from Dangan, but I'd imagine they'd be packed, especially on the way out after the ceremonies are over. Any other tips for parking? Would it be easier to park in town somewhere and walk it?

    2) Attire; It seems common convention that most men wear suits, but is it part of the dress code? I'd was planning to wear some smart jeans, desert boots and a shirt tbh, but don't wanna stick out like a sore thumb - anyone have any 'style tips'

Thanks in advance of any advice.

You could park in town - Hynes yard multi-story has a student offer. €5 for the day. Cathedral parking would also suit better.

You will stick out like a sore thumb if you wear jeans. There's no official dress code to my knowledge, but everyone wears at least suit pants and a shirt.

You won't need to worry about a suit jacket as the robe conceals quite a bit anyway. But for the sake of comfort (and warmth), you'd be better wearing one if you had it. More than likely it'll be cold and raining.

Parking: Best bet is probably walk in from town. Parking in NUIG is utterly mental during graduation. I don't think I've ever seen as bizarre parking as yesterday. Keep an eye out when wandering around college as well. There are some shockingly bad drivers out there. I nearly got crashed into twice yesterday due to cars deciding to drive at a reckless speed down one-way streets.

Attire: Wear a suit. Or at least a shirt and tie with smart trousers. You might be able to get away with black jeans but you're better off wearing some slacks.
