Xero Vs Sage One

For a client who currently gives me 3 lengthy journals of sales/purchases/cheques & bank statements every quarter for VAT which I use to prepare yearly accounts also. Client is not the best with computers anyway and wants to do it himself.

    Thoughts?

I'm leaning towards Xero; auto bank feeds (Ulster bank) + user friendly.

Although I haven't used Sage One yet = getting a proper intro in the next week or two.

Is there anything Sage One is better on?

Client has a mac so getting normal Sage is a pain and extra cost therefore pretty much ruling that out.

avoid sage like the plague. terrible, terrible online package. xero is much better. you could also look at big red books online, quick books online or surf accounts. big red book and surf accounts are the only two Irish packages of the ones I have mentioned. I use surf and their support is excellent and based in Dublin which counts for a lot

    Hi

I also do not particularly like Sage one. I have a number of clients that use it and it is a nightmare.

Xero is also good because of the number of plugins that you can use with it. it is quite reliabale also. The thing I dont like about it is that it is not particularly designed for the Irish market. The VAT reporting is not particularly good.

At this time the autobank feeds do not yet work for most Irish banks. Dont know if Ulster bank is any different.

The system that I recommend is Sortmybooks. It has bank import, receipt bank etc just like xero but is designed with the Irish environment in mind.

    Best of luck with it

+1 for sort my books. Have trained up a few clients on it and they like it, they find it user friendly and we can log in and access it when they need our assistance.
