Diesel dilemma

I have a 1.6 Diesel Grand CMax (2011) which I had from new, it's a great car, super for the family and we intended keeping it for years; however, I changed jobs about a year ago and am doing very little mileage now, in fact it takes me about 40 mins to drive approx. 10 k/m on clogged up back roads twice a day. This is obviously not what I had in mind when I bought a diesel! I do however use it for a long road trips down to France once a year! I always get it serviced on time.
Is it an accident waiting to happen?, I can't really afford to change, ideally I suppose would be a straight swap for a decent petrol family car (5+2 seats). Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd keep what you have for the time being unless it starts giving you trouble from the driving style you are giving it. Better the devil you know.

Might be a good idea to give it a blast down the motorway once a week or so.

    I'd keep it also.

Thank you for the replies. That was the advice that the Ford service guys gave me, they told me a weekly run from Blanch to Dundrum on the M50 should do it, run it fairly hard in 4th gear, apparently prevents sulfur build up on DPF??!

Don't know about the hard in 4th gear part but otherwise yes. A good cruise at 120kph will do the car good. Other things like letting the engine run for 30s or so when you park up, taking it handy when you first move away will help protect the engine also.
