R v Barlow

Anyone watching the trial of the century Peter Barlow up for the murder of Tina!

Steve's breakdown on the witness stand and Roy's hatchet job on Peter's character not withstanding, I think Carla saying she thinks he's innocent will probably swing it for him. Nearly knocked the judges wig off.

    So many questions still though....

Will Norris get his moment on the stand?

    Will Rob get found out?

    Does Carla still love Peter?

Saw a few minutes of this last night. The judge needs to get a tighter grip on the witneses - too much gratuitous commentary coming from witnesses of fact. Dramatic licence I suppose.

Hopefully, Norris will be sentenced to a week in the stocks. Damn, we don't do that any more. Drat....

Ever since that disgrace miscarriage of justice that started the grass root campaign of "Free the Weatherfield One" I for one am sceptical of a possibility of a fair trial.

Prosecuting barrister having a field day tonight, I wasn't sure where he was going with that line of questioning but he drew Peter into that admission that he was desperate to get Tina out of his life. Played him like a flute.

Jesus Peter, stop saying "I was at breaking point" and while you're at try to stop looking so guilty!

Ken Barlow is turning into a quite the Jessica Fletcher.

Always in the middle of the trouble, but nobody ever asks any questions of him.

His wife, and both his adult children, have now been prosecuted on serious charges, two of them for murder.

And I still think Blanch's disappearance from the Street was highly suspicious.

There's something not quite right about him.

Is this your way of asking for a legal discussion after hours forum?

Am I right in remembering an 'off topic/general chat' thread here a few years ago?

Right as usual, Grolschevik; hullaballoo's amazing cocktail bar!

Could be a case for a 'law and legal process in popular culture' off-topic thread...

    That was a fun week!

I've thought about doing another off topic thread so maybe this can be it. Can anyone think of a decent suffix for it? E.g. R v Barlow (raise your defence glass) ...except funny.

I quite liked the idea of a Corrie thread actually. With it's incredibly high crime rate, Wetherfield is a rich mine for legal discussion.

But an AH-type thread sounds better. Maybe call it the Tea-Room. The wearing of jackets would be compulsory, on pain of very accusing glares from the mods.

    Smoking jackets?

To bring it back to soaps, I'm always amazed by the lack of awareness of employment law and rights in them.

I've always wanted to get at tattoo that says "nemo dat, bitch." Don't have the courage, though.

Corrie can of course be discussed in any off- topic thread. Ithink calling it off- topic is wrong anyway because the nature of lawyers is to discuss law (even when no one else wants to.) Maybe it should be just called a casual discussion thread.

    What about "The Pit"?

I suppose it could, for the time being anyway.

Any name change to this thread would be to add something after "R v Barlow"... Think along the lines "R v Barlow (and other brain floss.)"

The idea would just be to alert people to the fact that the thread is more casual than others but no, I'd be keen on leaving the thread title as "R v Barlow". :)

One last pitch for "R v Barlow: habeas porcus".

For god's sake please tell me this is on 3 player. I can't get home till 9.30pm.

    No spoilers!

Sure they're never found innocent. They always get convicted and then shocking new evidence leads to a reversal.

Heh. It allowed me to multiply choose, but seems only to have registered one of my three choices. Ironically, my least favourite!
