    Hey,

I'm changing my son's bike, I have some 10speed youth cassettes and 10speed wheels and I'm wondering if I can work my 10 speed cassette with the 11speed shimano groupset, I'm told it will work but I'd like to hear it from someone that has done it, U12 youths can only use 16/25 or 16/27 on back and 49T on front so he won't need the 11speed on back and most new bikes are gone to 11speed now, I had picked up new 10speed hub zipp's this year for him and could do without changing wheels again,

    Cheers zip,

It will work zippe. Some of the juniors this yr had ultegra 11 speed g/sets with 10 speed 14/25 cassettes cause they couldn't get 11 speed jun cassettes.
In reality what it means is that somewhere along the derailers journey through the sprockets at the back you have a double click somewhere

The spacing between 10 and 11 speed sprockets is the same. But you need to adjust the limit screw to prevent the chain from going into the spokes. Best to adjust the derailleur with the extra click on the hub side.
