Petrol with a boot

My fathers looking for a second car, preferably an estate for the boot space.

Budget is less than 5k including 1 year tax (i.e. if there's 6 months tax on a 2.4, the price of the car could be 4500..)

has to be petrol as he's only doing 15,000 km per year,

Could be an estate or not but preferably something with a large enough boot (relatively).

He's currently driving an audi A6, so whatever it is has to have a bigger boot than this

He was looking at Q7s or X5s but can't justify the diesel engine when he's doing such little distance in the year.

Definitely doesn't need to be an audi, that's just what he's been looking at.

Can someone make some suggestions as to what would be suitable for him?

It seems like there's not a lot of choice in petrol estates within the budget..

how about a Mazda 5? They are a 7 seater but the rear seats fold down and when you lod down the middle row as well (3 minutes for all) you get a massive boot space. engine is petrol 1.8, chain driven. We have one and are getting ready to sell it as the kids are no longer in prams so if you're interested send me a PM, even if you just want to have a look.
    It's a 2006, with NCT until 02/2016. Tax is €636 per annum.

I'd hate to see what sort of Q7 he was looking at for €5k including tax. :)

Hard to beat a Volvo V70 for space though, no idea if it has tax or not though:
