You only get 100 euro if your bill is 500 euro. You get 20% of your bill

You're confusing this with tax relief of 20% off water charges for those that don't quailify for the social welfare €100 benefit.

DSP had already announced that those in receipt of the Household Benefts Package would be entitled to the €100 benefit starting in Jan 2015, in the form of four quarterly payments of €25, so I assume that those in receipt of fuel allowance will be paid in a similar fashion with their first payment of €25 sometime in January 2015, but AFAIK details of payment arrangements haven't been officially announced yet.

Every pensioner over 70 will get the payment, because they are already in receipt of the Households Benefit Package. Most pensioners aged between 66 and 70 will benefit. Those who already get the means-tested Fuel Allowance will also get the €100 water charges top-up. The Fuel Allowance means test is linked to the maximum rate of the Contributory State Pension.

Pensioners can have a combined weekly income of €100 above the maximum contributory state pension and still be eligible for a Fuel Allowance.

Any pensioner who doesn't qualify for the Fuel Allowance can still claim tax relief of 20pc off their water charges.

Most pensioners will have the ability to get both the 100 euro top up and claim tax relief as the household benefit package isn't means tested.

    Can I just ask?
What happens if you're receiving the Household Benefit Package AND Fuel Allowance?
What allowance do you receive then?

It's 100 either way, obviously you don't get it twice

Surely it would be easier to increase the household water allowance by 20,000 ltrs which is about 100 euro. Then everyone would get the same amount. It would close loophole where some can claim it twice
Save all the hassle claiming from revenue and waiting for payment.
Or am I missing something here
