Sell it by the bale and at least 12 euro a bale or your losing money.

Slightly of topic here but depending on where u are in the country, for that money would a lad not be better renting ground to get a bit of grazing along with silage for a year?

I would say you might be losing money at that?

True if 4 bags of fert to acre and good quality grass. Unless he has a serious heavy crop.

You'd want to be getting money up front even if you had to estimate the amount of bales ;)

when thev'e got new tractor, car and good layout and live within an asses roar of your front door, you dont want to push that issue,2 fellas involved, its not first time ive been waiting , maybe sfp might bring funds but an auctioneer will be involved next year, no more agreements hanging over a yard gate ,i know that eyebrows will be raised but explanations will be blunt and to point next year.

    +1 to these comments.

The answer to the original question is you get what you can get... if you studied economics "its the price the market will bear". At this stage you have to take whatever he'll give .. but learn your lesson, don't give it to him again unless he's prepared to pay upfront.

I find that putting a padlock on the gate of a rented field is a nice reminder to the 'customer' that he owes me money.

ah he helps me dehorn calves in spring and hes a mate so i wont be to hard on him anyway just wanted a ball park figure, i didnt need extra silage as i had a block left from last year and with the cattle prices and volatility i didnt want to be buying extra stock to eat the silage or graze the grass said id sit tight , it was just a lump of a field i took the other half and put it in the pit with me own
