Lambs taking joint ill in the hill

This year I had a big problem with lambs taking joint ill in the hill.
Ewe and lambs were put back to the hill at end of may after the lambing. All lambs were pour-on and got the best of weather for going back to the hill.Inside three weeks I noticed the lambs were starting to take joint ill.
Every year I get the odd lamb taken joint ill,but this year it was very bad and it was mostly the ram lambs that were taken it.
I am just wondering has anyone else have this problem and is there anything that can be done to to stop this happening again

Where you lambing and do you do navels with iodine. Joint ill is normally caused by navel infections picked up shortly after birth.

Do you lamb indoors or out? Would rarely have seen a case of joint ill here in lambs that were born outside unless the ewe lambed in a really dirty/soiled area.
It wouldn't happen to be white muscle disease would it? I know before I began giving the ewes Selenium boluses I had problems with white muscle disease in some lambs and initially confused it with joint ill.

I lamb out in field and it wouldnt be mucky or anything. All the ewes would have been in good condition and well tonic. It was strange it was the mostly the ram lambs that took it.I never heard about white muscle disease before. Is there anything that can be done to prevent this happening
