Snoring

Hi all

Not sure if anyone would have any suggestions for this problem!!

I'm sharing an apartment with one other girl and in the last month or so she has started snoring really bad, so much so she keeps waking me up at night. It's always worse after the weekend when she is probably extra tired. She did say a while back that she hoped her snoring didn't wake me but at the time it didn't. I know she can't help it but I'm wrecked from it. Thanks

Talk to her. It's obviously a problem that she's aware of and has come up before, seeing as she brought it up in conversation from the get-go. Just tell her that she mentioned her snoring a while back and that for some reason it's gotten worse in the last few weeks. She may already have a few tricks up her sleeve in terms of reducing it (sleeping on her side, nasal strips etc) and letting her know might give her the chance to put some of them into action.

By all means have a chat with her, but as a snorer, i can tell you that sometimes all the tricks in the book just won't work. I've tried nasal strips, rings, bracelets, t shirt with a ping pong ball sewn in to the back to make sure I sleep on my side, sprays, I could go on. Nothing has worked to any substantial degree.

It might not be something she can do anything to remedy so the remedy might have to come from your side with, as suggested before, earplugs or whitenoise or something.

I totally agree with you because I used to go out with a very bad snorer!!! I'll say it later and play by ear I guess!!

I agree with saying it to her but since this is a problem she's aware of and it's clearly out of her control I suggest buying ear plugs. I live with a family of snorers and I'm an irritable sleeper. I don't like the normal earplugs but the silicone ones in boots are great and really work. I've been using them for 3 years and I find it weird sleeping without them now.

I only snore myself when I lie on my back, and it definitely gets worse after a few drinks. My girlfriend will whack me when I start and tell me to lie on my side etc, it usually works after the third wallop or so. I guess that this is not much use to you though OP unless you are willing to go to the lengths of sleeping beside her to sort it out (-:

would you hear your alarm with these earplugs? alarm will be beside bed on locker

Yeah I always hear people calling my name or my alarm! I usually set my phone on vibrate so I definitely wake up! They seem to muffle background noises like snoring and if a tv is on you can't hear it much.

Ha ha ooh god I'd love to wallop her when she starts!!! I just can't seem tom get away from snorers!!' 😡😡😡😀😴😴. Ear plugs purchased today so here's to great sleeps ahead!!! 😴😴😴😴

I feel your pain OP - I've just come downstairs for a night on the couch due to my boyfriend's snoring! Very frustrating and tiring. Will be trying the earplugs recommended earlier because i can hear him through the brand I currently have.

Well I got the earplugs . I will report back in the next few days because it usually kicks off Sunday - wed !!! Will update soon !!!! lol

Well I have been using these ear plugs ever since and they are very good ! I would recommend them! Pain in the a&& having to use them but better than listening to horrendous snores!!!!

i have bought silicone ear plugs in boots and it says can only use plugs two or three times, i was wondering how many uses you get out of a pair if you use them every night?

I bought 3 pairs for a fiver and have been swapping them around for nearly half a year!
