Long shot, but looking for a folding bike, or possibly frameset. Must be at least 26" wheels, preferably 700c, size large, and reasonable parts. Something along the lines of a Montague Navigator would be ideal.

Just curious as to the reason for a large wheel folder?
Would a s and s machine coupler on a donor frame suit your needs?
I'm not selling mine, I'm just curious.
    Thoroughly recommend by the way.

Had to look up S & S couplers, but yes, that would most certainly do the trick. I'm after a bike that I can chuck on a bus or train, but still performs reasonably well for spins of a couple of hours on rural roads. I'm not that concerned if it takes an extra five minutes to assemble or dis-assemble, or how big the bagged result is once it is acceptable as luggage on a bus or train. I don't particularly fancy small wheels and the bolt upright position offered by conventional folders. I was also thinking if I could start with a frame that could take 700c road wheels, I could use my existing wheels rather than getting inferior stock ones. I also have spare drop bars, rear deraileur and shifters knocking around which could be used in a build.

Thanks for the heads up on the S and S, it has given me a bit more food for thought.

To be fair, the sscouplers are probably a 15 minute job both ways if you take the bike completely apart. I built a holiday travel bike, as opposed to a commuter.

A fair bit cheaper shipped from the UK, €974 (which also includes a free bike bag) versus €1125 for the Montague Navigator, though still a bit more than I'd planned on spending. Might cost getting a frameset in from the USA, though I'll doubtless get robbed on shipping and customs.

Saw that Dahon Tournado breakaway framesets can be got from the USA for about $600 shipped, which allowing for about 30% for VAT at point of entry and customs, comes in at ~€620. Looks lovely, though I'd prefer a carbon fork, still tempted though. Next nearest breakaway or S&S frame was more than twice that, getting much more expensive again for Ti.

Yeah, I got a ti enigma, after speaking with Lumen but the use case between what you and I have in terms of functionality is quite different.

Hmm, looks like I'm in serious danger of selling myself precariously up the market here, which is potentially coincidental to finding myself up shít creek somewhere down the Swanee river with the fairer half. Decisions, decisions.

Perhaps you could ask for this thread to be moved to the main forum? You might get more perspective there.

You might also set out your actual requirements rather than have me querying your original idea from a different and probably unsuited perspective.

Apologies. This thread spun off from an original thread here that covers the above. Should have linked it in the opening post.

Mods: looks like this one can be closed, as I doubt I'll get anything to purchase here.
