    Hi all,

Myself, the girlfriend and her 6 year old son are heading to Spain at the end of the month and none of us have any Travel insurance. Can someone please recommend where to get it? We've never had any before as this is our first foreign holiday together so decided to get it especially for the wee man.

Further to this one we are also head to England a few times a year, I have a stag do in Prague in February and we'll be going on holiday again next Summer hence why I say probably looking for multi-trip insurance.

I've done a quick search using the links on the main travel page on here and found multi-trip.com quoting €49.99 I think it was. Does this sound about right? Can someone with similar experience please give me an idea of what to look for etc?

    Cheers

€49 looks like their Premier level of cover, though that's inclusive of travel to the US/Canada & specifying you do not hold private health insurance.

Have you applied for a free European Health Insurance Card for all of you?
Getting necessary healthcare in other EU / EEA countries
As an Irish resident you are entitled to get healthcare through the public system in countries of the European Union (EU), European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland if you become ill or injured while on a temporary stay there.

Until now, you needed an E form – such as the E111 or the E128 - to get such treatment. Now, these paper forms are being replaced by the European Health Insurance Card. One Card is needed for each individual or member of the family.

The Card was introduced on 1 June 2004. It means that you can get necessary healthcare in the public system of any EU / EEA country or Switzerland, if you become ill or injured while on a temporary stay in that country.

No I don't think so but I'll check with herself to see if she has ones. Seems like a decent idea to get one.

I do vaguely remember seeing one of these cards in the house at some point but not sure when to be fair!

We always use getcover.ie. Found their quotes very reasonable.

Just checked and she does have one of these for herself and the wee man but still haven't checked if I have one myself. Probably still going to go ahead and buy one of these other covers just to be sure - probably multi-trip.om just.

Just checked that site thanks but their prices are double what mlti-trip.com are offering for less stuff from my reading of it.

Do you have a link for that insurance? I tried multi-trip.com but that doesn't work.
I didn't compare many insurances, just a couple and it was better than VHI's multi-trip because the limits were higher and I'd only travel a couple of times a year anyway. If anything happens I'd rather have higher limits on what I can claim, as chances are if I did have to claim, I won't be needing to claim more than once a year.

I was just looking at booking ski travel insurance and getcover is actually cheaper as well as having higher limits on their premium cover than multitrip.com.
However, multitrip do seem to offer optional extras such as flight cancellation and cover for strike action, which getcover doesn't seem to cover.
