Dry socket taste 3 weeks after extraction

I got a tooth removed 3 weeks ago and today I have that dreaded, awful smell of dry socket. There is no visible hole. The socket is closed up as far as I can see.

Is that normal? I have absolutely no pain at all.

I'll ring my dentist this evening but I said I'd ask here first to see if it happened to anyone else.

That would be late for a dry socket and generally they are quite painful...
I'd guess a late post op infection or a stitch abscess or some food trapped where it shouldn't be...
    Get it looked at..
