Gas heaters could you share some knowledge

Hey all, so winter has hit and I am shrouded in a duvet at the mo.
I was thinking this year instead of using the oil central heating and the wood burning stove I should look into a gas heater. It is incredibly hard to look into the oil tank. I know it is low and honestly with the water tax I doubt I can afford it this year.

How much are gas canisters these days?
If I buy a gas heater on Amazon (UK) will it fit the gas canisters over here?
I remember as a kid there was two types of heads to them, what are their names and are they the same in the UK?
What gas should I even buy?
I have never actually bought gas myself (except carrying it out the shop) so I have no clue.

I have no one to ask so please be patient with me.
