Looking for a second hand bike to suit my girl. she is 5 and half, but on the taller side.

I'm guessing something like 18inch wheels would be ideal for her.

I know i should bring her into a shop to find out, but want to try and surprise her!

Id go 20"...My lad is 5 and hes short for his age and is on 20" wheels.
Theres and Ad here for a nice little Hotrock on 20" wheels...probably gone though.
There is a REALLY nice Islabike Beinn 20" on www.adverts.ie if you can stretch to it you wont get better... and youll be able to sell it again.
Thats what my lad has and he absolutely loves it...
    Marty.

Light and functional...most kids bikes are heavier than their own bodyweight.
Imagine pushing a bike around 70Kg up a hill!

I think hes looking a tad too much at 300 but thats my opinion...250 be realistic.
The plus side is you will get most of this back in a few years when you go to sell or upgrade...

thanks, they look good allright, but it is a bit steep to be shelling out that kinda money atm. we have 2 more girls coming up behind her so it would get the use but tbh it was just something to bring home to her, maybe if it was a birthday or something...... :pac:

Yeah totally understand....its a lump to fork out but its an investment.
Whatever you get try get her something light...aluminium frame v steel will be the main weight saving, suspensions on kids bikes are a lot of extra weight and totally unnecessary...keep it simple.
Also theres a lot of kids bikes out there with excessive tat hanging off them just adding weight and distracting from actually cycling.
    Marty.

Ah sure what kids bike didn't have a card stuck through the spokes held on with a peg and not to forget the kelloggs reflectors. Ah those were the days. Now it's all carbon this and titanium that ;)
